FAQ

General Fundraising Questions

  • How long should a fundraiser run?

Two weeks is typically optimal. A two week timeline creates urgency while preventing volunteer fatigue.

  • What's your most popular product?

We are Kansas City’s #1 Trash Bag fundraiser. We offer a multitude of colors, sizes, and forms to fit your customers’ needs. Our competitive pricing ensures that your group earns the highest profit possible.

  • Who should I sell to?

We recommend advising your sellers to promote the fundraiser to friends, family, and community members. Our online fundraising service automates a lot of the selling process and broadens the potential seller base/geography.

  • Are product fundraisers better than donation-based fundraisers?

Both models can work, but product fundraisers often see higher participation because supporters receive something tangible in return. While donation drives rely on generosity alone, product fundraisers allow buyers to feel they are supporting a cause while purchasing something useful. In many school communities, combining online sales with high-demand consumables creates a more predictable and scalable fundraising outcome.

  • What is the most profitable school fundraiser?

The most profitable school fundraisers typically involve consumable products that families already use regularly. Items like trash bags, cookie dough, and popcorn consistently generate strong participation because supporters see real value in their purchase. Programs offering 40% profit margins with simple order collection and delivery systems tend to outperform novelty-based fundraisers. The key is choosing a product with high demand and minimal friction for sellers.

  • What products are easiest for students to sell?

Students sell products most easily when they can confidently explain them in a short sentence. High-demand, everyday consumables tend to be the simplest: “We’re selling premium trash bags,” or “We’re selling brand-name cookie dough.” When the product is practical, reasonably priced, and recognizable, sellers feel more comfortable asking for support.

  • How can schools increase participation in a fundraiser?

Participation increases when the fundraiser is simple, well-communicated, and easy to manage.

Schools should provide clear instructions for families, offer online selling options, keep the campaign timeline concise, emphasize the purpose (uniforms, travel, scholarships, etc.), and choose products with broad household appeal. Lucky for you- we provide all of the above!

Dollars For U Questions

  • How do I start a fundraiser?

The best place to start is to determine a funding goal to shoot for, then decide what product you should sell and who you will sell to.

Our “How to Start a Fundraiser” blog is a comprehensive guide to fundraising and visiting our How It Works page has video tutorials with a link to Get Started.

  • How long should my fundraiser last?

We recommend groups run their fundraiser for no more than 2 weeks. We have found that running a longer fundraiser does not increase sales, but actually sometimes decreases sales because it takes away the sense of urgency. 10-14 days is optimal.
